The Tähtiseura online service supports club development from the very first steps of the Tähtiseura programme. The service provides the necessary materials and tools for different stages of the development process. The work can be carried out both independently and interactively with a club developer from the sports federation or regional sports organization.
Spirit Shakin’ Cheerleaders earned the Star Label for children and youth in 2018. According to the club’s Head Coach Laura Kokkonen, the Tähtiseura programme has played a key role in the club’s development.
– The Tähtiseura programme has taken our operations to a more professional level. We’ve improved our processes and learned a lot of new things. For us, development work has felt meaningful. When needed, we’ve received support from club developers at the federation or regional level. We’ve never had to figure things out on our own, Kokkonen explains.

The online service supports every step of the development journey
The Tähtiseura online service within Suomisport enables clubs to further improve their operations. Through the service, you can review and develop different areas of your activities in line with the quality criteria of the Tähtiseura programme:
- leadership and governance
- sports activities
- the people in the club
- material resources.
At Spirit Shakin’ Cheerleaders, the online service is met with praise.
– As we prepared for our club’s re-audit, the Tähtiseura online service played an important role. We’ve made all our notes there and uploaded various attachments. It’s convenient that the system works simply by logging into Suomisport, Kokkonen explains.
– We’ve found it clear and helpful that everything we need is available on the same platform. It’s easy to pick up the work right where we left off. There are plenty of tools, and they support our club in taking a comprehensive approach to all areas of our operations, she adds.
Kokkonen also sees the online service as a way to support transparency among club members.
– Notes and actions are recorded in the service in a way that everyone recognises and agrees on. Development work is more structured from the start, because we know what we’re talking about. The tools and themes in the service guide our attention – sometimes even to areas we wouldn’t have considered ourselves.
– A big plus is, of course, that the data stays accessible even when there are changes in personnel. All the necessary information can be found instantly via the browser or the app, Kokkonen concludes.
